Jessica pulled up to the Odessa Café at 4:37 PM in her 2008 navy-blue Trail Blazer. Pulling into the nearest spot, which wasn't that far from the door considering the place was nearly empty, she swung the car out and turned directly in between the lines of the parking spot. Smiling as she put the car into park and pulled the keys out of the ignition. Reaching over to the passenger seat she grabbed her blue and green polka-dotted tote containing her money, cellphone, the current novel she was reading which just so happened to be, 'Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows' by J.K. Rowling. Call it cliché or whatever, but she seriously loved that series. Getting out of her car, she shut the door and locked the car up with a button on her keys. Slipping them into her tote, she walked into the café.
Jessica's first impression of the place was like a Starbucks or a Tim Hortons with a slightly more poetic and warming feel to it. Smiling she walked over to the counter and ordered a vanilla frapp, her absolute favorite. Paying for the drink she received her change and walked over to one of the big, plush chairs surrounding a fireplace, halfway facing the stage. Jessica plopped down onto the chair and crossed her right leg over her left. Looking down at her legs, she tugged at the bottom of her light blue, kind of faded, American Eagle jeans, which had cuffed up at the bottom. Lightly moving her foot up and down, she chuckled as her flipflop made a funny noise hitting the heel and ball of her foot. Looking over to her tote bag, she grabbed her book out of it and opened to page 576, hoping to finish the book soon. Taking a sip of her vanilla frapp and setting it back down onto the coffee table in the center of the mass of chairs, she looked down at her book and began to read - kind of hoping someone interesting would come in the cute café.

Matt was tired of sitting around in the commons area, waiting for his room assignment, so he left his cell phone number with the secretary, letting them know to call as soon as he got a dorm. He drove around, feeling his caffeine craving kicking in when he found a small little cafe. Feeling musical, he took his guitar case out of the car and headed to the cafe. It looked and felt like Starbucks, but somehow different. Well, besides the beach, this is my official second home. He walked up to the counter and ordered a coffee with two sugars and vanilla cream, his favorite. He grabbed a seat by the fire place, well away from anyone. He took a nice, long sip of coffee, loving the caffeine pumping through his blood now. He put down his coffee and began to strum on his acoustic guitar.
Just warming up, he played some scales and some familiar songs. Pausing to take another sip of coffee, he looked up to see a blonde walk in the door. He barely glanced at her, because he needed to concentrate on his guitar. He began to play the song he'd been working on when he found out that he had to move. The song was supposed to be the bands big break through, and they all threw him out because of the news. Forgetting about that, he began to softly sing, his slight British accent standing out with all the Americans talking around him. Some people actually stopped and looked over him, and his celery green eyes flashing between the people and his fingers as he slowly began to sing louder. Finishing up, his audience began to clap for him and he gave a short wave and then finished off his coffee. He went up to the counter and ordered another one, waiting up at the counter for it.

Jessica continued reading the book, her jaw dropping at random moments from shocking events that twisted the plot menicingly. She reached over and grabbed her frapp, taking a large sip from it and then setting it back onto the coffee table. Looking back to her book, she realized that she was basically speed reading - reaching page 599 in a course of 10 minutes. Smiling at her accomplishment in reading, she scanned the page and picked up reading where she had left off. Just moments after Jessica had read page 605, she was abruptly interrupted by a guy playing a guitar and singing kind of softly. She smiled as she recognized the amazing sound of the acoustic guitar echo throughout the café. After he finished, she lightly applauded along with several others that had gathered in the fireplace area. Smiling she continued reading her book.
"'Mum's right, Ginny,' said Bill gently. 'You can't do this. Everyone underage will have to leave, it is only right.' 'I can't go home!' Ginny shouted, angry tears sparkling in her eyes. 'My whole family's here, I can't stand waiting there alone and not knowing and---' Her eyes met Harry's for the first time. She looked at him beseechingly, but he shook his head and she turned away bitterly." She read from the page that was now basically glued to her eyes. Jessica sneered as she was being interrupted yet again by a soft ringing sound coming from her bag. She slammed her book shut and dug her phone from her tote and looked at the caller ID. Seeing that it was her friend Cat from back home, and she really wasn't in the mood to talk to her, she hit ignore and shoved it back in her bag. Opening her book once again, she smiled as she got lost in the world of Harry Potter once again.

When his coffee was finally up, he walked over to the station where you put the coffee and cream in. Just then, some kids came running into the store, and bumped Matt. His coffee went flying everywhere, including all over himself. "Bloody hell. What's wrong with you. God this is hot." He was yelling at the kids, who looked terrified for a minute, then ran out of the store. Someone from behind the counter came over and handed him napkins. He muttered a thanks as the kid started to offer him a free coffee. "That would be great. I'll just be outside in my car changing." He walked outside and unlocked his car. Pulling off the shirt that was full of stained coffee, he pulled out a bright green Hollister shirt and put it on.
When he locked up his car and walked back inside, the guy from behind the counter gave him his free coffee. He walked, once again, over to the counter and started to put in the sugar and cream. When he finished, he walked back over to his guitar and began playing a new song, this one a little louder. When he was finished, the manager came up to him and asked if he could preform here on open mic thursday. "Sure, I guess that would be fine. I'll have to check my schedule, but it should be okay." The manager smiled and walked away, and Matt grew bored.
